2008 WORLD SWAT CHALLENGE APRIL 9TH-12TH, 2008
North Little Rock, AR
Message from the director - Updated Message Posted March 14th
Hello Competitors and Competition Teams,
We are looking forward to another exciting televised World SWAT Competition. This year we have added some new events so there will be ten challenging events total. Some of the events are similar to last year with many new modifications and three new tough courses. One of the new events, the Under Armour Run and Gun (a great new sponsor) will be a two person event and will require a lot of running and physical conditioning. Due to the nature of this event, it will NOT be performed in full tactical gear, so athletic and running gear is acceptable and advisable. So please have your teams ready for a tough course.
We are proud to announce a $10,000 Training Grant Fund available to any participating SWAT TEAMS generously given by Scott Health and Safety. Further details will be announced at the Competition. Please don't forget to thank Marty Lorkowski, Industrial Marketing Manager, of Scott Health and Safety for this great contribution to law enforcement when you see him.
Ron McCarthy sends his regrets and will be unable to attend the competition this year due to a Federal Court Case, where he will be testifying. The Table Top Exercise will be conducted by a very influential and important member of the SWAT Community, John Kolman, retired Captain of the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department and the founder of the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA). It is an honor to have John leading the Table Top Exercise this year. Assisting John, will be the newest member of the World SWAT Competition team Bob Parker. Bob is a former SWAT and Special Operations Division Commander with the Omaha Police Department. Bob also teaches Active Shooter Classes and writes for the NTOA. We are proud and honored to have Bob as part of our team.
There will also be a confidential SWAT survey being conducted by Lieutenant Mark Bowman of the Virginia Beach Police Department, so please cooperate with his research.
We are again grateful and honored to have this event hosted by the Little Rock SWAT Team, North Little Rock SWAT Team and the Arkansas Tactical Officers Association (ATOA).
Our team looks forward to seeing you all in Little Rock!
Sincerely,
Patrick Jameson
